Idol Top 9

QUICK:

Anoop- he's turned a corner for me this week....going down down down. I thought he was cocky and lame. My mom's quote of the week "We don't need a mustache from you Anoop."

Megan- UGH I am so ready for her to go home. What happened to her last name Corkrey? Why is she just Megan Joy now? I don't like that

Danny- fantastic...he had gone down a little last week for me but he's back! Loved it

Allison- yuck I hated her outfit and I thought she was screaming the song. She will do better next week I'm sure

Scott- I will say that this was probably the performance that I have enjoyed the most from him. He still needs to go though but I don't think he will

Matt- I liked it! I was tired of the R&B Matt and I liked the change. I don't know why they gave him such a hard time...he is still soooo much more talented than some of the others. He wasn't as good as last week so who knows what will happen to him. He totally does not deserve to go home.

Lil- I am really getting tired of her....she is good but oh so boring. And has she ever heard of Spanx?

Adam- I realized after he was finished that I was holding my breath the whole time. I have to say he is growing on me but I still find myself nervous when he is performing that he might stop and lick the camera. But he does have a darn good voice.

Kris- bravo little Kris!! I thought this was his best week yet! He definitely had the moment he was hoping for. He is getting better and better every week. love him

I think that........Megan or Anoop will go home this week. It's a guessing game at this point. I will be in Austin until Saturday for a speech convention so I will talk to you all later! Have a good week!

Sunday's Supper

Chicken Fajitas and Black Bean Salad

I'm sure you all already have a better recipe for this, but I like it so I'm putting it on here just in case!

Chicken Fajitas (about 5 points each)

1 lb chicken tenderloins

1/2 can rotel (the mexican kind with the chiles)

Tortillas of your choice (I used

2% milk Mexican cheese

Fajita seasoning packet

Cook the chicken on the stove in a little olive oil until the chicken is mostly done, then pour in the 1/2 can rotel (you could probably use the whole can if you want) and 1/2 packet of the seasoning packet. Then cook until there isn't any liquid left in the pan. Heat up your tortillas, add the chicken and some of the tomatoes and a sprinkle of cheese and then you're done!

Black Bean Salad (this makes a lot and I calculated 8 servings at 200 calories or 4 points each, but it could easily be 10 servings at 3 points each)

Adapted from the back of the can of Bush's Black Beans

2 15 oz. cans black beans, drained

1 red bell pepper, chopped

1 green bell pepper, chopped

1 yellow bell pepper, chopped

1/2 red onion, chopped

1 tsp minced garlic

1 tbsp cilantro, chopped

1 avocado, choppped

The juice of 1 lime

1/4 cup olive oil (after I made it I realized you could probably use less and save a lot of calories and points. Next time I think I'll try half of that amount and see...then I could always add more later)

5 tbsps red wine vinegar

1/2 tsp cumin

1/4 tsp red pepper flakes

salt and pepper to taste

Basically, you just chop up everything and mix it together, then pour in the wet ingredients and the spices and mix it up again! Yum!!!

I used this as a dip, but you could easily eat it without the chips....I just always have to throw some baked chips in there somewhere. I'm trying to sneak vegetables into my diet as much as I can, and I would never eat peppers and onions otherwise. I should have calculated the points beforehand, because with the chips this was an 11 point dinner, which is about 3 points over my normal dinner. I think tomorrow when I eat it I will just leave off the chips and eat a little less of the salad.

Idol Top 10

Let me first say that I hated Idol being on Wednesday this week. As for my review:

Matt- I thought that was a brave song choice and that he did have a few pitch problems but I thought it was greatness. And he is getting better every week in my opinion. He may be my new favorite

Kris- man is he cute or what? I thought he was really good but I think he was a little forgettable this week....he needs to show that he can come out and wow us

Anoop- I think he has a great voice but I agree that he needs to do something different other than just copying the original singer's version of the song. But overall I thought he was really good and he had on a lot of different clothes so he was probably very hot

Scott- ....sigh.....I thought he was better this week than last week but I thought it was super corny. And it was weird with the back up singers right next to him they kept distracting me. That is one of my favorite songs...actually my favorite version is by the dixie chicks and it was just boring to me. He should go home but he probably won't. And whoever is dressing him needs to cut it out and get serious.

Megan- oh Megan where did you go? I thought she actually did better this week and she looked beautiful but when she messes up another one of my favorite songs (Mary I always think of you when I hear that song) it just kind of ruins my night! I thought her voice sounded pretty good but again I was distracted by the awkward movements and the really bad arrangement. She probably will be in the bottom three this week.

Michael- um yeah that wasn't so good. He was totally oversinging but I think that was Smoky's (smokey's?) fault. He is probably the nicest guy in the world but he just can't really compete with the rest of these boys this year. I think he will be successful in country music though and I think he might go home this week.

Lil- Okay I feel like we have heard and seen a performance like that a million times on this show. She needs to change it up and wow us soon or I think she's done. I agreed with the judges that the song was too fast...I think she could have been amazing if she had sung a slow version of that song. She could potentially be in the bottom three.

Adam- I was surprised that Simon didn't make fun of his look this week. I have a hard time with Adam because one week I hate him and then the next week I love him. So this was a love week for me. I loved the arrangement of the song and I love how he didn't make out with the camera this week and his voice was also amazing. Sammy does that make you happy?

Danny- I still love you Danny but that wasn't my favorite....I didn't necessarily think it was awkward and clumsy but I thought it was predictable from him. I liked last weeks wow much better. He is definitely good and is comfortable on stage and I love him for it!

Allison- I have to say that she is totally the best girl this year and probably the best young girl that has ever been on the show. She reminds me a lot of Kelly Clarkson but not quite as likable for some reason. I still haven't pinpointed why. She needs to hold the mic away from her face a little bit more...she sounded a little muffled to me at times. But she definitely killed that song this week. Hated the outfit though

Sunday's Supper on Monday

I've been meaning to post more recipes on this blog because I am trying to cook more, but I have been too lazy! But here is one that I made last night and had again for dinner tonight. I hope you like it! And beware because you could get injured like me opening a can of pineapple!

Grilled Jerk Chicken, Aloha Rice, and Roasted Broccoli:

Grilled Jerk Chicken (about 3-4 points each):

4 skinless boneless chicken breasts

olive oil

Jerk seasoning (I use McCormick)

I made these on the grill- I just rubbed a little olive oil on each side of the chicken, then sprinkled some of the seasoning ( a little goes a long way) and then grilled them for about 8 minutes on each side or until they are getting some nice grill marks. *Optional*- throw a few pineapple rings on the grill and sprinkle them with some of the jerk seasoning also- yummy!

Aloha Rice (recipe courtesy Sandra Lee)

Makes 6-8 servings- 6 points each if 6 servings, 4 points if 8 servings

1 cup light coconut milk

3/4 cup pineapple juice

1 8 oz can pinapple chunks in juice

2 cups white or brown rice

Pour the coconut milk, pineapple juice, and the pineapple chunks with the juice into a saucepan, bring to a boil, let boil for about 2 minutes. Then remove from burner, add the rice, and let sit for about 7 minutes and enjoy!

Roasted Broccoli -about 1 point depending on the amount of oil and cheese you use. (this doesn't go with the others but I am trying to eat more green veggies!) Makes 4 servings

I just cut up 2 heads of broccoli, drizzled them with a little olive oil, salt, and pepper, then put them in the oven for 10 minutes at 400 degrees. Then I sprinkled them with a little bit of parmesan cheese and cooked them for 10 more minutes.

We got to see William last weekend and he is sooooo cute and funny! He has the best personality and he let me take just a few pictures! Hiding from Aunt Paige behind the pillows

So I am boycotting the gym today. I am just TIRED and I already have my pajamas on. I don't think I ever posted anything about finishing THE CHALLENGE. It was over on the 6th. Well I finished it actually with 52 workouts in 60 days....and a 6 pound loss which was good considering that was what I gained over Christmas. It really stinks that it only took me about a week to gain that and then 2 months to lose it. NOT FAIR! I still have at least 20 pounds to go until I meet my goal which at this rate is going to be an eternity! But that's okay I will keep trying!

I've had a few random thoughts that I've been meaning to post and haven't had time so here we go:

1. How much do I love Kelly Clarkson's new CD??? THIIIIISSSS MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love it and her so much right now! I love the fact that she lives in Mansfield, that she goes up and down with her weight just like me, that every song on this album is different, and that she can kick butt with her voice. AND that she writes most of her music. My favorite right now from the new album is Cry, which I have added to my playlist on the right! Listen and enjoy!

2. Is LOST driving anyone crazy or is it just me? I love it but I think they have quite a bit to wrap up before it's supposed to be over this May. It's just like they keep introducing new issues without resolving any of the old ones. And did I miss what happened to Daniel Faraday? And Aaron? And does anyone else think that Miles is the video guy's son? I just keep getting more and more confused.

3. Do I really need to sign up for facebook? I keep putting it off and everyone I know keeps yelling at me because I don't have one.

4. I am SOOOO excited about my trip to the Bahamas! Just thought I'd mention that....

Idol Top 12

I'm making it shorter this week:

Michael- I think it was fun but a little boring...he's got a great smile though

Allison- she has a great voice but something about her bothers me. Maybe it's that she is 16 and annoying.

Kris- HOTTIE!!! And he has a great voice. That's one of my favorite Garth Brooks songs and I thought it was awesome.

Lil- I had to rewind and listen to Simon say "Little" over and over. That was greatness. And her song was okay. She won't go home though.

Adam- I was sooooo uncomfortable watching that. I almost had to close my eyes. I had a Constantine flashback when he was trying to make out with the camera.

Scott- sorry honey but I think it's your time to go. Again, the talent on the piano is amazing but the voice just isn't there for me.

Alexis- I liked her this week- and she IS NOT DIRTY! I don't know why they are wanting her to be dirty and naughty and she's trying to pretend that she is when she is NOT! And now for a new feature- Mom's comment of the week- "She needs to get that crap out of her hair."

Danny- I LOVE me some Danny Gokey! I love the song choice, Hated the outfit. He is fabulous.

Anoop- he's back! I still like Anoop! The boy can definitely sing if he picks good songs....I love that song and I think of Elvis when I hear it and not Willie.

Megan- better than last week...hated the dress....I still wonder why she has those tattoos. I would like to ask her. I thought she did okay...probably good enough to stay in the competition. And she does get props for singin when she's sick.

Matt G- HE was my favorite tonight! I LOVE him! He is very talented and I'm glad he stepped it up tonight. Definitely his best.

A few overall comments:
1. The makeup artist on this show is awesome (except for on Megan)
2. Why are they all talking back? Are they told to do this? I hate it.
3. Way to go boys for picking some Carrie Underwood songs! I love her and I love them for it!
4. I hated Kara's dress.

Idol Top 13

I really am tired and don't have much time so here is a quick brief post about this week. They are probably out of order:

1. Lil Rounds- I couldn't listen to her because I was concentrating on her horrible white 80s big bottom pants and awful shirt and pink eyeshadow. But I'm sure she was good.

2. Scott- I know it probably makes me a jerk but I think he should probably go home this week! I think he's super talented at the piano and I do think he's a nice guy and a good role model but his voice is just average! He should go and be a motivational speaker or something. Sorry!

3. Jasmine- boring and blah she should go home too

4. Michael- I like him but I didn't think he was quite as good as they did. But he has a nice voice. And his little girl is a cutie.

5. Danny- I agree with Simon- great vocal and hideous dancing. I still think he's the best and all of the people who think he's milking the fact that he's a widower (?) can get over it. It's a part of his life that AI is going to ask him about it because it's interesting.

6. Anoop- I Love Anoop! I thought that he was cute and his song was pretty good- they tell them to sing MJ songs and then they think that it sounds karoake when they do a popular song....and if they do an unknown song they lose too. Everyone can't do a David Cook Billie Jean cover.... And Simon was WAY too mean to him....he was really not that bad. I also love his parents. But hello can we get the boy some tweezers or wax? Seriously

7. Allison- didn't love her this week but still think she has an awesome voice. She just shouldn't talk. Especially about not being a cutter.

8. Kris- I LOVE KRIS!! It could be because he's hot with the guitar but also has an awesome voice. I think he needs to stay around for a while. I also love him because he's the only one of the 13 that was not featured in the Hollywood round.

9. Jorge- can you say boooooooorrrrring?! Maybe I just didn't know that song very well. I thought he sang well on it though and I thought Simon was too mean to him. Again....tweezers please!

10. Adam- I can't decide if I like him or not-I think I'm leaning towards yes. I think he can sing and is very different and is definitely comfortable on stage...also is he gay? Not that it matters but I can't tell...

11. Matt- I love Matt but thought he was kind of boring this week- but he's totally talented and you know I love the piano bar singers so I have to love Matt

12. Alexis- Okay I HATE her look. They told her to look more dirty and she is taking it to the extreme. She has an awesome voice but I don't think she knows who she is yet

13. Megan- I actually forgot Megan and had to go look up who was left- what does that say? I like Megan's voice and I think she's beautiful but I am tired of her corkscrew dance and I think she's going to be getting old pretty soon. And Rockin Robin? really????
